I always felt relatively neutral about New York. Even for a vacation, the city barely cracked my top 5 places to visit. It always seemed way too busy for me; too many people and things to do that will give me anxiety. Basically, I can’t hang with New York.
My trip last week made me change my mind. I guess it was the rush of riding subways and walking along hundreds of New Yorkers that made me like the exhilarating feeling of being in a big, busy city. It made me appreciate the city a whole lot more.
Anyways, I realized some things while I was there:
+ I’m not ready to settle down. I always thought that Houston/Texas was it for me- this is where I’ll start and develop my career and family. But no. There are bigger and better opportunities that I need to pursue and if that means moving, I’m cool with that.
+ I need to travel leisurely more and 4 day trips to Austin doesn’t count. I spend a lot of my money on material things that I could be spending on vacation expenses. Traveling for work is pretty cool. I got free trips to San Francisco, Scottsdale, and more recently New York because of it but I hate not having the free time to be a tourist and explore the city.
