Summer Reading
I’ve been trying to pick up reading this summer. I used to love reading so much as a little kid. As I became older, tv took up most of my freetime and Nickelodeon nicktoons replaced Anne Martin and Roald Dahl.
My summer reading includes:
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (started last summer never finished)
Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris
Candide by Voltaire (I found an easy translation at Half Price the other day)
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (don’t judge me!)
I’m reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn right now for SS book club (supposed to be done with by today) and I just can’t get into it. Maybe because I don’t feel like it has a good story line? I know it’s about a struggling family during the Great Depression era but I need a very structured plot line to keep me reading. I just want to quit and start Middlesex. I read the first paragraph of it and am very interested.
