Fall/Winter Update

OCTOBER
October was a BUSY month. I spent all of the weekends in October traveling which was amazing but it left me no time to work on my Halloween costume. I traveled to Dallas twice to visit my Grandma and uncles. My grandma left to live back in the Philippines at the end of the month. I went to Austin to go to ACL which was a wash… literally. Johnny and I only managed to go to 1 day out of the 3 day weekend. We weren’t able to leave for Austin until Friday evening because I had work and the festival was cancelled on Sunday because the park was flooded. So that only left Saturday where we saw Haim, Kendrick Lamar, The Cure, Grimes, and others. I also went to San Francisco in October! Linda and I managed to do a couple of wedding stuff like look at flowers and dresses. I also rock climbed for the first time ever. I’m excited to go back again with Johnny in January. Halloween was fun as always. I even managed to put together a last minute costume as Frida Kahlo. We had a costume contest at work and my department won best group costume! We went as an art gallery where everyone dressed up as notable pieces of art (Mona Lisa, Son of Man, The Scream). Halloween aka my favorite holiday fell on a Thursday this year so I was smart enough to ask for Friday off. Good thing because I met up with friends at Barbarella and indulged in one too many whiskey and cokes.

NOVEMBER
To make up for all the traveling in October, I did absolutely nothing in November except relax. It felt so nice. November was just mostly work because we were heading into the holiday busy season. Oh, Johnny and I did go to the Texas Renaissance Festival which was unexpectedly fun. We did a lot of people watching, ate turkey legs, drank overpriced beer, and watched a couple of performers. I want to go next year in costume. For serious.

DECEMBER
It’s only half way through December so it doesn’t really warrant an update but… December has been crazy busy work-wise. Lots of long hours in the office and lots of lunches eaten at my desk. If I didn’t have amazing coworkers I would be hating life right now. We have lots of fun activities coming up like a tacky sweater contest, cookie swap, and white elephant. We had our company holiday party last week which was a lot of fun. Our department (or a combination of 3 departments that my group of work friends are spread across) held it down on the dance floor. I haven’t started holiday shopping yet which is horrible. My siblings and I are doing a photo shoot tomorrow so we can give my parents and relatives an updated portrait of all of us for Christmas (narcissistic much?). But other than that, have no idea what to get anyone else. As for me? A Roomba and yoga studio memberships are the things I would like most on my Christmas wishlist. What are you asking for this Holiday season?

I wanted to do an end of the year picture recap but while going through my phone pictures I realized I don’t have any pictures that are worth recapping :( A majority of my pictures were from work. Grant it, they were the fun moments at work but still… work. For 2014 I would like more adventures! More Kodak moments! Oh, I still don’t know what I’m doing for New Years Eve yet so I should figure that out first.

Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoy parties and business meetings, but after a while wish they were home in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their social energies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation. They tend to dislike conflict. Many have a horror of small talk, but enjoy deep discussions.

Coach recently partnered with Billy Reid to create a “limited-edition collection of fine men’s furnishings”. The collection includes murses and wallets in the finest leather, canvas, and suede. The stand out piece? This $400 baseball glove. The perfect present for the guy in your life that’s interested in fine men’s living and sports.

Grace Jones - La Vie En Rose

I heard this on GTA5 tonight and it brought back so many memories of dancing at Escobar/Backroom/Boondocks. Back when I could stay up past 2am and not even care that I had class the next morning. Back when my weekend partying started on Wednesday and went through Saturday. Back during the height of the ~electro wars~ (sorry for the Hipster Runoff reference) when you were always guaranteed to hear Justice, Cut Copy, Miami Horror and you always danced. A lot of dancing.
